Retirement does not have to mean retreat. Purpose & Second Acts celebrates people who continue to work, create, contribute, learn, volunteer, lead, start businesses, develop new talents, and discover entirely new directions later in life.
For some people, a second act means launching a company after retirement. For others, it may mean becoming an artist, actor, musician, mentor, teacher, volunteer, advocate, or community leader. Sometimes it simply means finally having the freedom to pursue something that had been postponed for decades.
This section explores reinvention, lifelong learning, entrepreneurship, creativity, volunteering, mentoring, part-time work, encore careers, education, community involvement, and the emotional importance of having something meaningful to look forward to.
You will meet people who started over at 60, found a new passion at 70, returned to the stage at 80, or decided at 90 that there was still something they wanted to accomplish. We will also talk with professionals and organizations that help older adults turn experience, curiosity, talent, and wisdom into new opportunities.
Purpose does not come with an expiration date, and there is no rule saying life’s most meaningful chapter has to happen early.
A second act is not about starting over. It is about deciding what comes next.
